SUPPORTING BIG STEPS FOR JAKE IN WALK NOW FOR AUTISM SPEAKS.

Eagles Talent took part in a walk for Autism Speaks last Saturday, October 17th, at the Anthony Wayne Recreation Area in Stony Point, New York. It was an absolute blast–not just to encourage awareness for Autism Speaks, but to support our colleague, Kristi Wilson, whose son Jake, has autism.

Talk about a fun time–there was music for the family, LOTS of food (Yummy!), and tons of people–and, to top it off, although it was a little chilly, the rain stayed away!

Below are some pictures from the walk on Saturday.

By the way, did you know that all the major TV networks are celebrating Volunteerism?

The EIF (Entertainment Industry Foundation, one of Hollywood’s leading charity is mobilizing the entire entertainment community to inspire people to volunteer. The initiative is called iParticipate. The major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox) will be devoting more than 90 shows this week (October 19-25) to get people to get off the couch and taking action that makes a difference. (Read article from ABCNews.com here.)

Challenge: Think about how you or your office can take an hour or afternoon and get involved in helping your community, an organization, or someone you know who’s in need of assistance.

  1. In my local area I am a part of a mommies group. The group is 150 women strong. 2.5 years ago, I organized a Meal Support Program for our members. The premise was that if a member needed assistance with meals because of the birth of a baby, a surgery, a death in the family or similar, people would volunteer to make a dinner for that member and deliver it to her home. The MSP has made close to 1000 meals for our members since it began. And, I was fortunate enough to partake when my youngest son was born- My husband enjoyed homemade dinners for 3 weeks straight!! A program like this is especially helpful since many of our members are transplants to Orange County and don’t have a lot of family living close by. I love to cook (when the kids go to bed, this is my therapy) and this gives me a way to help others in my community.
